Bienvenida “Bene” Credo has volunteered as an Americorps Senior Companion with VOA and then Homage for 15 years. She supports her elder clients through weekly visits and phone calls, sharing her spirit of service and connections in life’s most difficult transitions.
Bene recalls that it’s not always easy. Many of her original clients have passed away, and she cared for her beloved husband Percy who developed Alzheimer’s disease and passed away in February 2018. But she doesn’t let age stop her from helping and supporting others to live their best lives.

Bene is a wonderful role model of how to help others in your community regardless of age. At the IDIC Filipino Senior and Family Services, she helps people connect, enjoying bingo, attending the food bank, and remaining socially connected to others. Her care ensures that everyone can age with grace and a strong community around them.
