Older Adults on the Margins: Strategies of Support for Unhoused and Justice-Involved Elders

In September, EEI returns with workshops that address how to best serve elders from two highly marginalized communities – the unsheltered and those impacted by the carceral system.

Older adults are now among the fastest-growing groups experiencing homelessness and post incarceration, reentry challenges. Older adults experiencing homelessness and those involved in the carceral system face complex and often intersecting challenges, including chronic health conditions, social isolation, trauma, barriers to housing, and limited access to age-appropriate services. As the number of older adults who are unsheltered and/or in re-entry grows, it is increasingly important for mental health and other service providers who work with them to understand their their unique situations and needs and how they can best be supported.

Join us for two complementary workshops that explore practical strategies for working with older adults navigating these extremely complex life challenges.
