End Senior Summer Hunger

End Senior Summer Hunger

Food security is among the top challenges that older adults and adults with disabilities face in King County, which is why it makes up an entire pillar of Sound Generations’ supportive programs. Our Community Dining and Meals on Wheels programs are designed to ensure the accessibility of nutritious meals to the aging adults in the community. Additionally, our meal programs go above and beyond to embrace, recognize, and reflect the vibrance of the diverse communities throughout the county.

We are excited to announce the steady return of our Community Dining programs to in-person services. The Greenwood and Rainier Beach sites are now open for serving meals at reduced capacity, with regular sanitary precautions like using hand sanitizer, single-use containers, and masks. Several other Community Dining sites are scheduled to reopen throughout the month of July. While each site phases back in, meal pickups and deliveries are still available to ensure that aging adults maintain access to regular nutritious meals in their communities. More information about the transition back to congregate dining can be found at https://soundgenerations.org/our-programs/food-security/community-dining/.
