Sound Generations provides more than 6,000 older adults with food assistance through our Community Dining, Meals on Wheels and Mobile Market programs. Each of these programs are designed to meet the unique needs of older adults. In addition to fighting hunger, they connect people with caring social support networks — whether that means a friendly delivery driver who brings food to your home or a whole community of people to talk with over lunch. Read below to find out if one of our programs is right for you or someone you know.
For those seeking a social place to have lunch…
Community Dining is a network of different locations throughout King County where older adults can enjoy a hot lunch with others. It’s a great way to stay engaged with a local community, as many locations provide lunch five days a week and are connected to senior centers and other civic or cultural organizations. Anyone aged 60 and up is welcome to drop by for a suggested donation of $4 per meal.
For those who are homebound…
Meals on Wheels brings nutritious frozen meals directly to the homes of qualifying seniors who have difficulty shopping or preparing food. Our staff and volunteers put care into their work: from the delivery drivers who know each customer by name to the customer service representative who gives personal attention while taking orders. Clients can order up to 14 meals each week and choose from 30 menu items for a suggested donation of $5 per meal.
