Volunteer Transportation Service (VTS)

Welcome to VTS!

Volunteer Transportation Service (VTS) helps King County seniors get to their medical appointments. Volunteer Transportation Service has an amazing group of vetted volunteers who use their personal vehicles to transport riders, providing an important avenue for independent living and community building. Our rides are Free but donations are welcome. We request one-week advanced notice for any ride request. Our rides are dependent on volunteer availability and are not guaranteed.

Rider Eligibility

  • Must be 60 years old.
  • Must be a King County Resident.
  • Riders must be able to get in and out of a small car or van with minimal assistance.
  • Riders who use a walker or other mobility device must be able to store them with minimal assistance.
  • We do not transport those using a wheelchair.

Where Can I Go?

  • We operate within King County. We do not go to Pierce or Snohomish Counties.
  • Medical appointments (we do not provide transport for procedures unless the rider has a caregiver going with them)
  • Dental, vision, and hearing appointments.
  • Physical Therapy

Scheduling hours are weekdays, Monday-Friday 8AM-4:30PM.

  • Please provide at least one-week to 30-day advanced notice.
  • We operate from 8AM-4PM, weekdays.
  • Please have all trip details (times, addresses, duration of appointment, etc.)
  • A caregiver or family member may join with prior notice.
  • All rides are dependent on volunteer availability.

VTS Frequently Asked Questions:

What happens if a volunteer accepts my request?

If a volunteer accepts your trip, you will receive an automated call informing you. Otherwise, a customer service representative will call you the Friday before your ride to share the status of your trip.

Can you take me to my procedure?

Yes, but only when you travel with a caregiver.

How far can you take me?

Anywhere within King County, but all rides are based on driver availability.

Can I bring my oxygen tank?

Yes, small oxygen tanks are aloud.

How much can I carry with me during my trip?

You can only carry 3 bags each weighing no more than 10 pounds each.

Can I bring my service animal?

Yes, you may bring your official service animal.

Can I request rides online?

No, but that option is coming soon.
