Troy Pladson Community Impact Fund

Investing in Engaging Aging Solutions

The Troy Pladson Community Impact Fund  is a donor-supported fund designed to strengthen program and senior center impact today while building sustainability for the future.

The unrestricted fund was established through a generous seed gift from his parents, Bonnie Pladson, a former board member, and Dennis Pladson, a former volunteer. This was given in loving memory of their son, Troy Pladson, to celebrate his legacy as a connector and advocate for aging with dignity and purpose. She believes in what’s possible, and we believe sustainable outcomes happen when generosity meets opportunity.

The unrestricted fund strengthens community-centered solutions by investing in initiatives that enhance accessibility, address emerging needs, and improve service delivery and responsiveness. The unrestricted fund creates a meaningful way for the broader community to connect more deeply with the mission of Sound Generations and create lasting change.

Gifts to the Troy Pladson Community Impact Fund are pooled and thoughtfully stewarded to address emerging client needs and improve service delivery for programs and senior centers that may not fit within traditional funding streams. Ultimately, this fund will help us move our mission forward while increasing our reach.  It’s a powerful reflection of how leadership, commitment, and generosity can truly shape lives.

Troy Pladson became involved with Sound Generations as a board member in 2009 due to his interest in helping others and after seeing the good work his mother, Bonnie Pladson, had accomplished during her board tenure. He served on the Board in many capacities including Treasurer and on the Executive Committee until 2017. During his tenure, he shared his experience in sales, marketing, strategy, and business development for technology companies and applied it to community affairs, fundraising, and advocating for older adults.

Why the Community Impact Fund Matters

By 2030, there will be more adults over 60 than children under 18 for the first time in King County’s history.

The needs of older adults are constantly evolving. The community impact fund provides flexibility to respond; supporting ideas, social education, and strengthening belonging for older adults. The ideas supported by this fund, which will come from staff working closely with older adults, may not fit within traditional funding streams but are essential for older adults to age their way.  The fund is an invitation to invest in what’s possible while supporting mission-driven work that evolves alongside the older adults we partner with.  The fund is how we turn your generosity into action.
