Volunteering with Sound Generations is a great way for people of all ages to get involved with their local community! Last year, we had 2,125 individuals donate their time to help us further our mission to support people on their aging journey.

Summary: Are you social media savvy? If so, Sound Generations has the perfect opportunity for you to be apart of our events team! Our 54th Anniversary Golden Gala event in support of positive aging in King County is around the corner. We’re looking for people to help spread the word about our live-stream event, whether on Facebook, Twitter, or even word-of-mouth! If interested, volunteers will be provided with a short script and link to event to share out to friends, loved ones, and fellow community members.

Join our Volunteer team to help Meals on Wheels in King County fight hunger! As a Meals on Wheels Volunteer, you will belong to a team committed to helping homebound seniors maintain their health and independence with nutritious food, personal contact, and caring service.

A Volunteer Driver is needed to deliver meals Wednesday mornings in Burien. Volunteers arrive at the center to pick up meals between 10:30 AM – 11 AM, and deliveries typically take 1 – 1.5 hours. Mileage is reimbursable. We are looking for volunteers who are interested in volunteering long term.

A Volunteer Backup Driver is needed to deliver meals in Burien on Wednesday mornings, as needed. The backup driver would fill in when the weekly driver is unavailable. Drivers pick up meals between 10:30 am – 11 am, and are typically done with their route in 1-1.5 hours. Training is provided and mileage is reimbursable while making deliveries. We are looking for volunteers who are interested in volunteering long term.

Qualities sought in Meals on Wheels volunteers: Good communication and people skills, reliable, good cheer, and a commitment to the well-being of homebound elders. This is an on-going volunteer commitment.

Requirements: Complete the Meals on Wheels Volunteer Application, consent to a Washington State Patrol background check, the ability to lift 15 pounds and work in cold temperatures, and be age 18 or more.

Join our Volunteer team to help Meals on Wheels in King County fight hunger! As a Meals on Wheels Volunteer, you will belong to a team committed to helping homebound seniors maintain their health and independence with nutritious food, personal contact, and caring service.

Help keep the meals rolling at the Renton Senior Activity Center. A volunteer is needed to call Meals on Wheels participants for their weekly order on Wednesdays, from 9 am – 12 pm.  You would be the back-up caller, filling in when one of our weekly callers is away. Training will be provided. We are looking for someone who is interested in volunteering long-term.

Full Description: Join our Event Volunteer Team!  VIP Swag Pack delivery drivers will assist in the coordination/personal drop-off of VIP swag packs made for our virtual gala attendees. We’re looking for volunteers from the following: North Seattle, South Seattle, West Seattle, Central Seattle, Eastside, and South County. Pick-up of the Swag Packs to be delivered will be coordinated at Sound Generations’ office located in Belltown.

Requirements: Should be personable and comfortable with delivering items. Should have a valid Washington State driver’s license and/or access to reliable transportation.

Summary: We are actively seeking Administrative volunteers to assist us in preparation for our 37th annual Golden Gala celebration!

Full Description Join our event administrative support team! As a Supply & Inventory assistant, tasks will include creating an event inventory, moving and organizing supplies, and documenting the location of inventory across three locations within Sound Generations’ HQ at the Lillian Rice Building in Belltown. Carts will be on-site to assist in the transport of items between rooms! 

Requirements: Should be organized and comfortable with working alone. Volunteers should be able to perform physical activities such as bending, lifting, climbing ladders, and carrying up to 50 lbs as necessary.

Summary: We are actively seeking volunteers to assist us in fighting isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic, by video calling or phone calling an aging adult.

Full Description: We are looking for individuals to help us address social isolation in a meaningful way. Help us fight social isolation and loneliness amongst aging adults during the COVID-19 pandemic by calling to enjoy a conversation and check in with those who are in need of social interaction.

Requirements: Should be personable and comfortable with calling and holding a conversation with a stranger/aging adult.

Full Descriptions: Lake City Seniors, a Sound Generations Program is searching for a volunteer to help assist with the technological side of our Zoom Series, Tomando Control de Su Salud. This person would need to bi-lingual and be able to assist participants with basic technology issues and be able to assist the presenters in showing slide materials. This is a virtual opportunity and you can do it from anywhere!

This opportunity is from 9:30am until about 1:00pm and starts Wednesday, May 12th and continues on Wednesdays for 7 weeks. We have the ability to give a gift cards to a volunteer that can help out.
