Marletta, or Ms. Marletta, as her students call her, was a kindergarten teacher for over 50 years. Marletta’s commitment to the classroom inspires not just students, but also fellow teachers and parents. She has even taught the children of some parents she taught decades ago.
Marletta’s influence was far-reaching, being featured in The Seattle Times, University of Washington, Seattle Public Schools, and Eric’s Heroes with KOMO News. In one of the comments, a reader notes, “She taught kindergarten at Orca [K-8 School] to my now 19-year old and we still talk about her as one who made an amazing impression on her.
“It’s all about the love, the appreciation that they return to me that keeps inspiring me to come to school every day. I never say I’m going to work, I say I’m going to school.” – Marletta Iwasyk
Over the years, Marletta has touched the lives of over 1275 students. She’s taught generations of people to be lifelong learners, stewards of the earth, and good influences to the world.
