Feanette inspires others through her strength, tenacity, resilience, and her work. Feanette is a Lakota elder. She was involved in the No Dakota Access Pipeline movement to support the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in 2016, using her physical presence on the front lines.
Feanete is strong and gentle in the way she carries herself, supporting her community equally through advocacy and prayer. She is fluent in the Lakota language, sharing Lakota culture and blessings with younger generations and the community at large. She shared the closing prayer at the inaugural Indigenous Women’s candlelight vigil in downtown Seattle, a prayer that send strength and healing to participants.
The Seven Generations is the concept of acting with the three past generations, the current generation, and the three future generations in mind. Feanette’s actions honor the Seven Generations in so many ways. Her love for her community and unfailing bravery inspire all.
In 2017, Feanete received the Inspire Positive Aging Award for Advocacy & Activism.
